Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss it, you will land among the stars. – Les Brown
The last few days I have realized the distinct difference between people like you and I and the general population – and it has nothing to do with money, social status or affiliations. Instead I’ve realized that most people talk a lot yet never act, people that are striving for a better life act a lot and talk somewhat less. It’s amazing to me how few people act on what they want, since acting on what you dream about or desire seems like a given. I mean why settle for a job you hate, a relationship you’re apathetic about or a life that is painfully normal when almost anyone can actively pursue their dreams, all they have to do is start acting.
The only true happiness comes from squandering ourselves for a purpose – William Cowper
After this realization I started doing some research and I spent a few days gobbling up as much info as I could find about truly successful, truly great and ultimately extraordinary people. The one thing that differentiated them from the pack was their energizer bunny-esque drive. They refuse give up on their dreams and eventually they achieve them, no matter how many hurdles they encounter, because they never stop moving.
We act as though comfort and luxury were the chief requirements of life, when all that we need to make us really happy is something to be enthusiastic about – Charles Kingsley
You think it’s all glitzy and glamorous don’t you? You imagine I’m sitting on a beach somewhere, sipping a Mai Tai and living the good life as this damn start up starts itself! Well you’re wrong I tell you, wrong! I haven’t gotten my beauty rest in days and I’m about to throttle people!
phew… sorry for the rant, I’m operating little sleep, a half a bagel and nursing a raging head ache… I’m a little testy as you can see!
I’ve always been one of those people who go in 100 directions at once, like so many other entrepreneurs I’ve always had a nasty case of ADD which has been both a blessing and a curse. The upside is I am never at a loss for new ideas, inventions or inspiration – the downside is that every idea I have I want to pursue, which can lead to disaster… fast.
This is a post by Clark Benson, I first heard of Clark while doing my daily routine of listening to the great business tips on Mixergy.com. Clark is a serial entrepreneur, currently involved with Ranker.com & was gracious enough to answer a question I had for him in the form of a guest post so everyone could benefit from it. This guy is the real deal, so listen up and you may learn something epic!

One of the most important keys to success is imagination. It’s actually closing your eyes and seeing yourself there. Allowing yourself to stay in the moment & to take in every aspect of what your goal feels like. This may sound like wishy-washy pseudo science – but in reality it is one of the main characteristics successful people in all fields share. They can literally see themselves reaching their goals.
I’m not an internet marketer and I certainly don’t consider myself anything close to a pro blogger either. I am most definitely not in the business of making money online, by teaching people how to make money online.
…And please don’t take offense if you are in that business – this is my mantra – you don’t have to dig it – it’s just to help solidify the tribe I’m part of.
I once went to school with a girl whose name was Younique, I always wondered if her parents were just intentionally cruel or actually thought that was an rapturous name (apologies in advance to all the youniques in the audience). That’s besides the point, but it’s a nice intro to this post.
This is a guest post by Cameron Plommer from EconApps. In my quest to be extraordinary and to blog extraordinarily I’ve stopped taking any and all guest posts except the ones that JUMP out at me and I think “Wow, this needs to be shared with the world.” One thing that caught my eye was that Cameron said he’d been inspired by my recent
Did your New Year’s resolution 5 months ago have anything to do with starting a small business in 2010? What happened to that?! Did you forget or just get lazy? Maybe you just got overwhelmed and gave up, or are only half trying to get it up and going. I don’t care if your idea of a dream business is grooming doggies out of your van or building the next Fortune 500 tech company – the time to start it is NOW.
Do you know how to make a marriage last? I do! A marriage to your goals that is – the other kind I know nothing about and have no interest in finding out any time soon, but marriage and business – now that’s juicy stuff!
Marry your goals, not your business
Have you ever heard the term “I’m married to my job” I hate it when people say that – firstly because it’s deeply depressing and secondly because corny turns of phrase annoy me.
